#Ad: Getting Green with Envy with Agro Labs

Disclosure: I was provided with a free 32oz bottle ($29.99 value) of Green Envy Daily Detox from Agro Labs to try out in exchange for posting my thoughts on the product. All opinions are my own.

I love me a good smoothie (as I write this, I’m working on re-creating some of my favorite winter/holiday beverages into a tasty daily treat…stay tuned!), and I love adding a touch of green to them for a great healthy boost. The fact that it turns my smoothie a bright green pretty much guarantees that no one will steal my green monsters from the fridge at work. Their loss.

The problem is that most green powders, though healthy, taste horrendous. I like to refer to them as having a good bite to them. Most smell like fish food. Not pleasant. It’s easy enough to mask in a smoothie but I don’t always have the time to make one in the morning. Especially when I haven’t done dishes in 3 days and all 3 of my various blenders (don’t judge…) are filthy and in the sink (I routinely hit heights of laziness most people don’t know exist). Truthfully though, the thought of drinking the green stuff straight up with no masking agents to hide the flavor gives me heart palpitations…and not in the same way that Paul Wesley does when he is sans shirt on Vampire Diaries (mmmmmm).

Uhhhhh…right…the drink…

Green Envy

So when I received my bottle of Green Envy, it tooke me a few days to muster up the courage to actually open it up. I honestly had visions of wretching violently from the taste and being forced to come up with some creative way of getting this stuff down my throat every day. Sure, there was promise that it tasted good but I wasn’t ready to subscribe to that notion just yet.

I eventually gave it a go and surprised that it actually wasn’t that bad. I’m not going to lie: it didn’t taste great but it tasted WAY better than I was expecting. Good enough that I can take my daily ounce and not gag, choke or need downers to work myself up to my little shooter of goodness.

From the site:

“Look younger, feel better, and live life energetically. We’ve formulated a premium blend of natural superfoods that aid in total body cellular detox which supports internal organ detoxification and healthy hair, skin, and nails.* We’ve packed in all the healthy goodness including young green coconut water, barley grass, wheatgrass, aloe vera, spirulina, chlorella, cucumber, broccoli, green tea, spinach, kelp, and parsley in a great tasting liquid gentle enough for everyday detox!”

Though I was glad that it tastes good, I can’t say if it gives me the same pep in my step that my green powder does. I definitely feel a bit more sluggish when I don’t have my shooter of goodness but I almost want to double up my dose. I can’t say enough how easy this is to get down though. It’s really nice to have something that you just grab out of the fridge, shake up and drink. No mixing, no making sure you’ve got enough other stuff in the shake to lose the horrid taste of the powder and no explaining to your hubby why the counter is green when you spill it (…or so I’m told…). I don’t think I’d rely on this exclusively as an every day green juice, I would definitely work it into my mornings a few days a week. I also thinks it’s a fantastic option for those wanting to start with green juices but not wanting to commit to anything too over-the-top right out of the gate (especially after my glowing descriptions of the powders).

Green Envy retail’s on Agro’s site for $29.99 for a 32oz. bottle (32 servings). A very reasonable price when you consider that there are some products out there retailing for nearly double.
