Running Toward: No Apologies

I feel like a bit of a broken record when I say that I realize that things around here have been a bit sparse. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I make no apologies about not posting more often. I know for a fact that the two of you that actually tune into my ramblings aren’t hanging onto my every word like your last thread of sanity so I feel ok about living life off the open track. That said, I must confess that although I enjoy not worrying about writing some trifle of relevance on a Read More …

Running Toward: Newness

Oh September, you sly fox…how did you sneak into our lives so suddenly??? So…I guess it’s fall now. I guess it’s time to make some pumpkin spice and prepare for the onslaught of fallness. School bus schedules, packing lunches, dropping kids off, picking them up, praying the kids you wake up with in the morning are the same ones you tuck into bed at night. But another “fall” phenomenon will soon be upon us: Routine. I am ready for routine. My kids are ready for routine. Summer is wonderful and it’s so great to be able to exhale from checking Read More …

Running Toward: Decluttering Emails.

Every year around Christmas, my husband and I go on a purging frenzy. The kids have new stuff to play with, it’s usually too cold to go outside for long periods of time and after the upchuck that is the Christmas spirit, we both want nothing more than to clear some space in our lives. Running Toward: Resolve

I don’t really “do” resolutions. Not in the sense that I plan a complete overhaul of my life with no actual goal or purpose in mind. I know all too well (read: from many years of doing it) that unless you have a goal that you’re working toward or some kind of purpose that necessitates some sort of change, you’re really just spinning your wheels and likely doing something because you see other people doing in and it seems like a good thing to try. Been there? I have. This year, I’m looking at resolutions a bit differently. Rather than Read More …

Running Toward: the Joy of the Season

Can someone explain to me how it’s December? How it’s nearly the end of 2015? And where time has disappeared to? Seriously…it was September just a day or so ago, wasn’t it? I feel like I just can’t keep up with life these days. 24 hours seems more like 10 minutes by the time the whirlwind of each day comes to a close. I’m definitely embracing those quiet moments at the end of the day when the kids are tucked in and there’s that momentary silence where all you can hear is that long exhale of the day coming to Read More …
