Running Toward: Loosening my Grip

“Mama, I’m just going to go play with my friends for a bit”… And just like that, he was off. 7 years old and suddenly a man… Well…not so much. More like 7 years old and bored being at his 5 year old brother’s soccer game. Either way, I feel like we’re approaching a new milestone that has me a bit overwhelmed. My shy, sweet, quiet first-born is becoming more and more independent. He’s got friends that he jokes around with, plays on sports teams with and that are filling his social calendar. Not to mention he’d rather be playing Read More …

Running Toward: No Apologies

I feel like a bit of a broken record when I say that I realize that things around here have been a bit sparse. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I make no apologies about not posting more often. I know for a fact that the two of you that actually tune into my ramblings aren’t hanging onto my every word like your last thread of sanity so I feel ok about living life off the open track. That said, I must confess that although I enjoy not worrying about writing some trifle of relevance on a Read More …

Running Toward: The Highs and Lows of Parenting

February has been a whirlwind! I really can’t believe that it’s almost March. As much as I’m eager for warmer weather and those first signs of the Spring ahead, it’s been nice to bask in the adventures that this month has brought us. Both my boys had birthdays this month (and apparently the little lady has several birthdays, according to her) which meant lots of celebrations, events, parties, and oh so much cake! Looking at my boys this morning, I can tell that they are most definitely partied out. I need to make a mental note to book a vacation Read More …

Recovery Road

Welp…our run of decent(ish) health came to a screeching halt over the weekend. And by screeching, I mean…puke. Puke. And more puke. Ugh. Thankfully, after a loooooong Thursday night listening to hubby clean up and deal with a pukey 2 year old (thank the good Lord I married a man that can handle barf!), we all took it easy on Friday and so far, no one else has been taken out. That’s not to say that it won’t happen (cue my massive paranoia and fear about the ralph) but I think we may have seen the worst of it. So Read More …

Running Toward: Zip, Zilch, Nadda

I don’t know where time is going but I’m in shock that tomorrow is November already. This fall has been nothing, if not crazy. In spite of the busyness of our every day, I’ve had quite a bit of writer’s block lately. I don’t have a single thing to write about. Even though we have lots going on, none of it is really worthy of writing about. We do swimming lessons, skating lessons, I work out, I work, the kids are endlessly sick (curse you germs!). I guess I don’t see the value in writing about every minute detail of Read More …
