Running Toward: No Apologies

I feel like a bit of a broken record when I say that I realize that things around here have been a bit sparse. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I make no apologies about not posting more often. I know for a fact that the two of you that actually tune into my ramblings aren’t hanging onto my every word like your last thread of sanity so I feel ok about living life off the open track. That said, I must confess that although I enjoy not worrying about writing some trifle of relevance on a Read More …

Running Toward: Lamenting

Well…we tried to avoid the inevitable and lost out…. we have puke. I hate puke. I’m terrified in an abnormal-I-need-to-chill-out-and-deal kind of way. I just can’t handle it. We also have gross colds in the house. Awesome. My oldest and I have been battling colds and coughs for a couple of weeks. My middle woke me up yesterday morning to tell me he had to puke. Life These Days…

Taking a few quiet moments this morning. My coffee is warm(ish) and the kids are all home from school today. We’re heading into another busy weekend of gatherings, lessons and general day-to-day togetherness. I own parenting today. So what’s new with me these Read More …

Playing the new neighbour game

So our neighbours are moving. The sign went up yesterday and I have officially positioned myself in full on stalker mode to spy on any prospective new neighbours to see who’s coming into the ‘hood. My plan is fairly simple: if they look like they might be late night pool partiers (there’s a rather lovely pool there) or like the type to let their dogs poo on my lawn, I promptly send the children outside to fight, scream, cry and have time outs very publicly to ensure the prospects are prepared to know that they might want to party hard, Read More …

A new Minimalism Challenge

We kinda like the whole idea of minimalist living. We’ve been gradually over the past couple of years getting rid of a whole lot of extras that we felt we could do without. It’s definitely been a work in progress and it seems that there’s still a good amount of stuff coming into the house that we likely don’t need but we have definitely found a rhythm that works for us. This had lead to a major decrease in stress, increase in finances retrained and more free time to spend as a family. As an example, when I opted not Read More …
