Running Toward: The Highs and Lows of Parenting

February has been a whirlwind! I really can’t believe that it’s almost March. As much as I’m eager for warmer weather and those first signs of the Spring ahead, it’s been nice to bask in the adventures that this month has brought us. Both my boys had birthdays this month (and apparently the little lady has several birthdays, according to her) which meant lots of celebrations, events, parties, and oh so much cake! Looking at my boys this morning, I can tell that they are most definitely partied out. I need to make a mental note to book a vacation Read More …

Recovery Road

Welp…our run of decent(ish) health came to a screeching halt over the weekend. And by screeching, I mean…puke. Puke. And more puke. Ugh. Thankfully, after a loooooong Thursday night listening to hubby clean up and deal with a pukey 2 year old (thank the good Lord I married a man that can handle barf!), we all took it easy on Friday and so far, no one else has been taken out. That’s not to say that it won’t happen (cue my massive paranoia and fear about the ralph) but I think we may have seen the worst of it. So Read More …

Running Toward: Lamenting

Well…we tried to avoid the inevitable and lost out…. we have puke. I hate puke. I’m terrified in an abnormal-I-need-to-chill-out-and-deal kind of way. I just can’t handle it. We also have gross colds in the house. Awesome. My oldest and I have been battling colds and coughs for a couple of weeks. My middle woke me up yesterday morning to tell me he had to puke. And the littlest little always has her grubby hands on everything and then either in her mouth or up her nose (such a lady…) which means she’ll likely get some sort of hybrid plague. Read More …

Running Towards: A Different Kind of New Year.

Last week was a whirlwind! First days of school for both boys (sniff, sniff), the little lady’s second birthday on Friday and lots of festivities and shenanigans¬†in between (including one trip to the ER-but that’s a story for another day). I’m still in shock that my little man is in grade 1 this year. Time, please slow down a bit. In only his 4th day of school, I have had no less than 10 heart attacks when I’ve convinced myself that I’ve forgotten, or will forget, to pick him up at the bus stop. Add to that, that I need Read More …

Running Toward: Newness

Oh September, you sly fox…how did you sneak into our lives so suddenly??? So…I guess it’s fall now. I guess it’s time to make some pumpkin spice and prepare for the onslaught of fallness. School bus schedules, packing lunches, dropping kids off, picking them up, praying the kids you wake up with in the morning are the same ones you tuck into bed at night. But another “fall” phenomenon will soon be upon us: Routine. I am ready for routine. My kids are ready for routine. Summer is wonderful and it’s so great to be able to exhale from checking Read More …
