Running Toward: Long Weekend Goals and my Half-Dead Garden

The May long weekend is upon us and though I doubt many of us here are celebrating the name sake of the stat holiday, our household is definitely enjoying an extra day at home. So much so that as I type this, 2 of my 3 littles are completely passed out, exhausted from a morning of swimming. My oldest is at a friends house (yep…they “play” at each other’s houses now that they’re 7 and all grown up, they don’t “play date” any more because that garbage is for the babies…or so I’m told) and I have no clue where Read More …

Planning 2017

Now that 2017 is here and people are done posting about all their resolutions and big plans for the year, I feel like I can quickly hop on to the band wagon a bit. I always have goals on the go and am working on or toward something but I’m not much of a resolution girl. It’s not that I think they’re bad, but I find that they can almost bully us into changing everything about ourselves as a way of making our self-worth more tangible and I’ve learned (very slowly) over the years that it’s just not a healthy Read More …

Spartan Super Manitoba: Race Recap

*Once Spartan releases pictures from the event, I’ll update this post with pics. Unless I look stupid, then I won’t. Long live vanity.* So after yesterday’s deep thoughts inspired monologue, here is the actual race recap for Spartan that I meant to write yesterday before my brain hijacked itself into being all serious and stuff. This year, Spartan added a Super as well as the Sprint so naturally, I decided that 3 miles wasn’t enough and 8+ miles and 29 obstacles was more my jam. Read More …

Dirty Donkey Recap

As of now, I’ve done 2 of my 3 planned obstacle races for the year. The more I do, the more I love them. Tell my younger self that this is what I would be doing for fun and she’d probably try to slap some sense into my current self. It’s pretty awesome. The day started off less than stellar. Sore throat and chills to be exact. Thankfully, my determination (and a butt ton of Tylenol) had me on the road feeling only mildly craptastic. I wasn’t about to let some germs get the better of me (at least not yet!). Read More …

Running Toward: Procrastination

Happy Belated Father’s day! I hope all you dads out there had an amazing time and were celebrated.  We decided on a more low-key day for our family but don’t let that confuse you with thinking we did nothing. I’m pretty sure my house is forever going to smell like bacon… We stuck pretty close to home this past week. Hubby had to make a quick 2 day trip for work which left me in the solo-parenting role once again. It seems like he’s been doing more traveling this year than the past 5 combined. It’s never easy having him Read More …
