Running Toward: Long Weekend Goals and my Half-Dead Garden

The May long weekend is upon us and though I doubt many of us here are celebrating the name sake of the stat holiday, our household is definitely enjoying an extra day at home. So much so that as I type this, 2 of my 3 littles are completely passed out, exhausted from a morning of swimming. My oldest is at a friends house (yep…they “play” at each other’s houses now that they’re 7 and all grown up, they don’t “play date” any more because that garbage is for the babies…or so I’m told) and I have no clue where Read More …

Running Toward: Adjusting my Training Plans

This Spring was supposed to be an awesome time of building running mileage, getting Spartan ready for the summer and just all-around kicking life in the pants. Unfortunately, as is often the case, my superior plans haven’t quite gone as intended. Back around the end of February/beginning of March, I started feeling run-down, more fatigued and way less energy than normal. I figured it was me training a bit too hard and not giving myself some much needed recovery time. Day by day, things just got worse. I needed to lie down every single day. Sometimes multiple times. Running Toward: No Apologies

I feel like a bit of a broken record when I say that I realize that things around here have been a bit sparse. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I make no apologies about not posting more often. That said, I must confess that although I enjoy not worrying about writing some trifle of relevance on a Read More …

Winter Miles and Treadmill Trials

After a harsh snap of winter last week that saw my face literally freeze and fall off my head, I’m happy to be waking up to some balmier weather for this week. There is nothing that gets inside my head faster than frigid winter weather. I don’t mind snow, I don’t mind if it gets colder but when you freeze and can’t warm up and the roads are sheets of ice and you’re trying to cart kids around…no thanks. So my sincerest apologies to anyone and everyone that my grumpiness may have affected (none of whom likely read this blog). Read More …

My Personal Thoughts on Polar’s New M200 Running Watch

Disclaimer: I’m a 2016 Polar Ambassador and as such have received an M200 to review and no cost. All opinions are my own. So I’ve been using the new Polar M200 for a few weeks now. I’ve already given you a rundown of some of the features of the watch here, so now it’s time for my own thoughts. First and foremost, the M200 is a running watch. It has integrated GPS, wrist-based heart rate monitoring and gives you display options during your run so that you have easy access to the data that is most important to you on Read More …
