Running Toward: Playing Dress-Up

And just like that, November is here. I don’t know where the fall went but I’m in denial about it being nearly done and knowing that any day now, I could wake up to a whole lotta white stuff on the ground. I’m not ready!

Halloween was pretty cool for us. We bundled the kids up and made the short trek around our block. Both boys wanted to be kings and since I’m super cheap thrifty, I managed to snag two crowns and septors from the local second hand store and used the capes my mum had made for them for dress up. Sure my kids aren’t the best dressed out there but let’s face it…I am not a super creative, costume designing gal. I’m just not wired to be fancy like that.

The neighbours were great and the boys had an awesome time.

I also had two events this past week that totally rocked. The first was a night time trail race (recap coming this week) that I did with some friends that was a totally awesome night. Trails, head lamps and costumes. It doesn’t get much better than that!

The other event was our annual pumpkin workout for charity at the warehouse. 100+ people in costume working out with pumpkins. It was amazing and we raised a bunch of cash for the Anxiety Disorders Association of Manitoba (A.D.A.M.). It’s so nice to be a part of something so fun that allows us to give back to the community and create awareness of mental health (I suffer from mild depression and am a postpartum depression survivor).

Both events saw me dress up as an 80’s aerobics instructor. Thrift shopping provided me with the perfect outfit. The metallic shorts were pretty much the best ever. Add in some hair crimp and glitter and I was ready to conquer the world!
